Everyone loves watching dolphins swim in front of the boats while they jump and play. Take a morning boat tour and see these fun-loving and curious animals and then head over to calm waters and do some snorkeling.

Dolphin watching and snorkeling is a fun and safe activity for the whole family to get out onto the water, explore the beautiful coastline, and see the amazing sea life. Some tours will take you snorkeling to little islands that are nearby where you can explore coral reefs.

In some areas, it is possible to go by tour boat or catamaran.

Your experienced guides will pick you up at your lodging* and transport you to the launch point. From here you will head out to find the dolphins.

Around Costa Rica there are several types of dolphins: Bottlenose, Spotted, Spinner, Rough Tooth, and the Common Dolphin. Some pods can range from just a few to several thousand. For your safety, you are not allowed to swim with the dolphins as they are large, fast, and playful so there is a good chance of being injured by accident.

Depending on the time of year and location you may also see sea turtles, whales, or even sharks.

After seeing the dolphins, you will boat over to specific areas nearby to snorkel. Daily conditions will determine where.

The waters around Costa Rica offer a rich and vibrant selection of sea life, depending on where you are and the daily conditions. The waters are home to Angle fish, Parrotfish, Pufferfish, Butterflyfish, Rainbow Wrasse, Blue Tang, Razor Surgeonfish, Sea horses, Starfish, Stingrays, Eels, Lobsters, Reef Sharks and much, much, more. If you are lucky you may even see turtles.

There are coral reefs on both coasts of Costa Rica ranging from vibrant to recovering.

This is a great activity for families and people of all ages in good health.

The tours are usually 3-3 1/2 hours and are in the early morning or late afternoon depending on location.

Your tour guides will pick you up at your lodging* and take you to the launch site where your adventure will begin. On the boat or catamaran, you will be treated to fruits and beverages.

Dolphins live off the coast of Costa Rica all year but the sea life is wild and free and we cannot guarantee what you will see anything, however, your captain and crew will do their best to find the dolphins and offer you an amazing adventure.
