The first families began to arrive in the upper area of Monteverde in the 1950s. At that time, tourism was not an economic activity in the way it is today. Instead, the town found an opportunity for growth in
agricultural production, specifically in the dairy industry, including milk and cheese. Livestock activity began to gain much more traction until tourism emerged as the main industry. Despite that, some of those early families still use their old dairy farms and have perfected their products with different flavors and textures. The cheese produced by Don Bernal and his family is an incredible experience for the palate. This tour is an invitation to taste a cheese made entirely by hand with all-natural ingredients and herbs, homemade yogurts, dulce de leche, and even jams with exotic ingredients and so much more.

Enjoy a personal tour for a family member and walk through this beautiful working farm and learn all about the procedures developed over the years and come face to face with many of the animals.

Tours run daily at 7:30 am and 2:30 pm and last approximately 2 1/2 hours.

This tour is ideal for the whole family.
