About Costa Rica
As you have no doubt heard, Costa Rica is a beautiful county. Small yet with an amazing biodiversity of plant and animal life. No matter where you visit in Costa Rica you are greeted with overwhelming views and kind people.
Costa Rica offers the traveler a wide variety of options.
On the East coast is the Caribbean ocean with tropical blue waters. The North-East coast butts up against Nicaragua and is home to the Tortuguero National Park area with thick jungle channels and world-famous turtle nesting areas. The Central-East coast is home to the cruise ship port of Limon. Just South is the Cahuita National Park that is known for Toucans and Sloths. Next is Puerto Viejo, the lively Jamaican style village, with an abundance of nature activities. Just above the Panama border is Manzanillo that is popular with scuba divers. Nearby in the jungles live the native Bri-Bri tribe.
In the Center of Costa Rica running North-South are prairies giving way to volcanos and wild mountain ranges. Center-North is the Guanacaste farmlands with the famous Costa Rica “Gouchos”, Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park. In the center of Costa Rica is the world-famous Arenal Volcano with hot-springs and world-class adventures. The amazing Monteverde area and Could Forest is a must-see as well. The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose, located on a plateau surrounded, by five volcano ranges including Poas. In the Southern area is Cartago with its famous cathedral. The birding area of San Isidro is the home to the beautiful Quetzal. North from the Panama border is the Chirripo National Park, a mountain range at 3,820 meters, the highest peaks in Costa Rica complete with pine forests and numerous hiking trails.
The West Coast of Costa Rica is remarkably diverse. To the North are large 5-star all-inclusive resorts mixed in with secluded beaches and sleepy villages stretching down to Tamarindo. For a more chill-out vibe, head a bit south towards Nosara and Samara and to the surfing beaches of Santa Teresa and Montezuma with the Cabo National park. Across the peninsula are the port town of Puntarenas and the fisherman’s paradise of Jaco in the center of the Coast. Heading South there is the port of Quepos and the worldwide attraction of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Just above the Panama border are the land and sea wildlife sanctuary of the Osa Peninsula where you may be lucky to see panthers and whales on the same day.
