The Palo Verde River Boat Tour is the ideal way to see an amazing selection of birdlife in Costa Rica. The tour takes place on the Tempisque river with the 10,000 square hectare (24,700 aches) Palo Verde national park on the North river bank and Puerto Humo, the largest private reserve in Central America on the South bank making this area rich in animals, flora, and fauna.
Your guides will pick you up* at 7 am and stop off at Guaitil, a little village that is famous for pottery in Costa Rica. You can watch these artisans working and explore the shops with finished pottery.
From here you will go to the riverboat docks and start your cruise on the Tempisque river. The guides will point out the birdlife, there are 232 different species that call this river home. Along the way keep an eye out for crocodiles as it is not uncommon to see crocodiles up to 8 meters (26 feet) long.
Overhead are not only birds but there are three species of monkeys in the area, sloths, and many other animals including big cats.
The boat captain and guides will explain the history of the area and all about the animal life you see and answer all your questions.
The river tour boats are large, comfortable with a lot of shade. This tour is fun for the whole family and ideal for people with limited mobility that want to see the beautiful nature of Costa Rica.
After returning to the docks you will be treated to a tasty Costa Rica meal before returning to your lodging*.
